A fun pattern for all sewers, especially those new to dress making

Pretty, feminine tops, designed with an easy fit to suit all figure types and ages. You’ll whip these tops up in no time as there are no button holes, zippers or tricky bits. The Magyar sleeve adds to the simplicity of the style and the ease of construction. There are 2 styles to choose from. Both styles feature a flattering V neck line with ¾ length sleeves that are lightly gathered at the cuff with elastic. Both styles have the option of being trimmed with lace.

Note: Fabric requirements are based on 112 cm (44") wide woven light to medium weight cotton fabric such as patchwork fabrics or voile.

Requirements for style A: High waist draw string

Main Fabric: 2 m for all sizes (2 ¼ yards)

Or for a longer top, 2 x your length + 35 cm (½ y) for facings

Light weight non iron on interfacing: 35 cm (½ y)

16 mm (5/8) wide satin or gro grain ribbon: 2 m (2 ¼ y)

6 mm (1/4") wide elastic: 1 m (1 y)

Optional 1" clover bias tape maker

Requirements for style B: Elastic gathered hem

Main Fabric: 2 m for all sizes (2 ¼ yards)

Or for a longer top, 2 x your length + 35 cm (½ y) for facings

Light weight non iron on interfacing: 35 cm (½ y)

6 mm (1/4") wide elastic: 2 m (2 ¼ y)

Additional requirements for both styles

Optional edging lace: 2 m (2 ¼ y)

Note: The straight edge of the lace must be neat as it will be seen.

A medium size safety pin or bodkin to thread the elastic
